hey baby, let's go to vegas.

Nick and I randomly decided to take a day trip to Vegas on Saturday. We were originally going to stop by the Dew Tour since Jona, Dustin (brother-in-laws) and the kids (nephews) were planning on being there. But our little day of shopping (and the fact that it was 95 degrees outside) sort of trumped the Dew Tour. Nick was in the mood to shop and there was no way that I was going to pass this opportunity up! We hit the outlets first and found Nick a bunch of stuff easily. This is always a good thing because then he's more patient when I want to shop for me ;) Of course we had to have lunch at CPK because that's just what we do. I was really bad at taking pictures like usual but here are a few from our day.

The highlight of our day for Nick was probably the drive home. We got to follow an Audi R8 for most of the drive and it was a beautiful site. Someday when we're rich we'll definitely have one - and when I say rich I mean filthy rich since they are about $180,000. (For those of you who have no idea what an R8 is, just think about Zac Efron's car on 17 Again.) Pretty sure the driver knew we were basically stalking him and lusting over his car the whole way but hey, that's what you get for driving such a gorgeous car. I should have taken a picture but I thought our staring was stalkerish enough - so our memories will have to suffice.

Even though our day in Vegas was pretty short and sweet we loved being able to escape for a day and only having to drive 1.5 hours to get there. We need to do this more often :)

(Not the most flattering picture of me but it's all we got)

conference weekend.

Nick and I got the opportunity to go to the Saturday morning session of General Conference with my family. Neither of us had ever been before so it was a really neat experience. We were seated up in the top balcony on the left so we didn't get the best view of the speakers. Good thing there were nice big screens broadcasting the session for us to watch:) While it's definitely more comfortable to be sitting on your own couch in your sweats eating treats being there is a totally different experience that we really enjoyed. Just being able to be in the same room as President Monson and how powerful his presence is was a feeling I'll never forget.

Before we went to Conference, we went with my little sister to her senior picture session with Mikki. While Kacey and Mikki were busy doing their thing Nick and I got a little bored so Nick decided to entertain himself. (He is easily entertained as you can see in the pictures.)

Kyle got the VIP seat in the back of the Touareg. (We only had one parking pass for conference so we had to pile in.)

We ran into Elder Lehr who served in the same mission as Zack. The Ghana ties sort of tipped us off :)

We also got to meet Zack's last companion Elder Wright who just got home a few weeks ago. He gave us a bunch of stuff Zack sent home with him - some paintings, wood carvings, and a ton of soccer jerseys if that surprises anyone who knows Zack.

Nick's sporting my sunglasses and looking pretty awesome ;)

Pandora's "Summer Hits of the 90's" and ESPN GameCast got us through the drive. Too bad the Yankees lost that game :(
Please ignore my washed out face. I promise I'm not that white. I'm mainly posting it because Nick looks so cool haha.

Overall it was such a fun weekend. It was nice to just get away and relax for a couple days in Salt Lake. But it's always good to be home :) Or so we thought...

At about 9:30 we got a knock on our door. It was one of our neighbors informing us that our car had rolled out of it's parking stall and into the mailbox across the street. Amazing. If anyone is wondering - the mailbox is completely fine. Not a scratch or dent on it. My car, on the other hand, didn't come out so lucky. There is over $1,600 worth of damage we need to get fixed. We're really looking forward to that. Thank goodness for insurance!
